Precision Reflexology was developed in Devon over 25 years ago by Prue Miskin.

The unique approach of Precision Reflexology is that it works in a more precise way on the foot or hand. The special (gentle) procedure used by Precision Reflexologists is enhanced by "linking", a technique where different reflexes are linked to one another by a holding technique allowing an enhanced flow of the body's vital energy systems and clearing energy blockages in a powerful, but gentle way. In addition to this I may also link reflexes to meridian lines on the feet to create a unique and unusual approach to treatment.

Benefits of Precision Reflexology

  • The main benefits are as the same as shown under the main Reflexology page
  • Precision Reflexology is deeply relaxing and gentle yet very powerful in its effects
  • Sometimes the treatment is so relaxing that you may fall asleep!

What to expect from a Precision Reflexology treatment

Precision Reflexology is available at my therapy room at Mirasol in Exmouth, East Devon. The general approach to treatment is just the same as any Reflexology treatment with the  "linking" technique as an added bonus. In my approach I use linking during the treatment, whereas other practitioners may use links at the end of a treatment. The overall effects are the same. The Precision Reflexology chart is slightly different from other charts, but also very similar. The other main difference is the technique mostly uses gentle rotating movements rather than the more vigorous, and more general, 'finger walking' and 'thumb walking' movements of other types of Reflexology.

How many treatments are needed?

This depends on how you respond to the treatment. An individual treatment plan is agreed with you at the end of the first session. Often four sessions with a review after the fourth treatment is suggested. If you have a chronic or serious condition to be treated (with medical permission) six or eight sessions may be more realistic. Many clients then come back on a regular basis for top-up treatments. This could be twice a month, once a month or maybe once every three months. Sometimes you may feel that you don't need treatment for six months or so, but then return for another few sessions. It may be that you simply want the occasional treatment for rebalancing. This is entirely up to you and what you think you might need.

I've heard that sometimes you can feel worse after Reflexology?

This can happen occasionally. A temporary worsening of symptoms may be experienced after treatment. You may experience a headache or 'flu-like' symptoms for up to 48 hours after treatment. You may feel tired, need to go to the toilet more often, feel weepy or have slightly tender feet. If you feel worse you may think that the treatment is not working, but reactions of this type means that the treatment is indeed working and helping the body to rid itself of toxins and impurities.

To assist in this cleansing process you can help by:

  • Drinking plenty of water, juices and herbal teas during this time
  • Avoiding alcohol, coffee, tea or other stimulants during this time
  • Cutting down or stopping smoking altogether
  • Taking a rest or nap to help the body recover more quickly
  • Eating a light diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and avoiding "junk" or highly processed foods
